Happy to be home

I am so happy to be home after spending the last 5 nights at the doggie hotel. Mom and Dad went to North Dakota for Uncle Adam's graduation. For some reason, top dogs are not allowed to go. I checked into the hotel on Tuesday night. Mom reserved a condo suite for me. It was yellow and had a Mickey Mouse theme. I was really upset when Mom and Dad dropped me off. I cried and cried the entire night. I had 2 neighbors in the suite next to me and that was it. All of the other roasters were in small cages down in the basement. I have stayed down there before and my private room with a TV was much better. Mom packed lots of food and extra GBs. The workers there didn't give me a lot of my dry and I wish I was let out more to do my business. One of the guys there even gave me a bath, which I hate! My 2 neighbors were picked up late yesterday afternoon and I was all alone. About an hour later, I heard some banging on the door. I jumped up to look out the window and I could see my Dad roasting in the window. He was trying to get in and the doors were locked! I started roasting because I wanted out so bad. Apparently, the hotel closed down even though I had a scheduled pick up. Mom went to a secret back door to the groomers and started banging on the door. The guy who gave me a bath answered and Mom told him they were ready to pick me up. The groomer guy didn't want to let me out! I heard Mom and Dad roasting at the guy, so he finally let them in. I thought they were going to have to break down the door. Finally, they were there to take me home. I gave them lots of kisses and ran as fast as I could to the car. It feels so good to be home. I have been laying in all of my favorite spots around the house. I hope I don't have to go back for a really long time.

Happy Birthday Mama

Today is Mama's birthday. Last night, Dad told me that we were going to take her to the beach for a morning walk. I was so excited that I woke up at 5:40am! Dad let me outside and told me to wait until Mom woke up. She finally woke up at 7 and we were out the door just after 8.

As we started our walk down the street to the strand, we spotted a dog outside of Starbucks that looked just like me. His name was Albert. Everyone was talking about how similar we look, but I am definitely cuter. :) We continued walking down the street and stopped at my friend Maggie's house. She was asleep in her chair on the porch, but she perked up when she heard us coming and started roasting at me. She wanted to show off her new toy. We took lots of pictures and I got to run around in the whispie garden. It was my first trip to the beach in a week and I had the best time. I hope Mom had as much fun as I did.

Here are some pictures from our day at the beach. Me giving Mom a birthday kiss, Albert, my lookalike, Maggie showing off her new toy, and me playing in the whispie garden.

Weekend Away

Mom and I spent the weekend with Boggs and Uncle Adam. I had a lot of fun visiting with them. Mom and Grandma Denise took me on an evening walk my first night to a special path near the creeks. It was so much fun to discover this new area. I didn't see any coyotes, but I did roast at a golden retriever who was on a walk.

On Saturday morning, Mom and I went for a walk to the park and through the green belt. When we got back to the house, Grandpa Bill was roasting because Boggs had scared a Mama duck and her 7 little baby ducklings. The babies ran under the deck beneath the spa and were trapped. Grandpa Bill and Uncle Adam spent the next hour and a half trying to rescue the babies. They were crying so loud. The Mama duck panicked and would not stop quacking. She flew all over the backyard and left to try and get help. Boggs and I stood very attentively in the window and watched. We really wanted to go outside, but Mom wouldn't let us. She said the babies were really scared and it needed to be quiet, so they would come out. While this was going on, the neighbor's turtle came by for a visit. I guess he escaped and Grandpa Bill had to return him to his house. He was a small little guy and could have easily gotten run over by a car! The babies eventually escaped from under the deck and the Mama duck came back for them. After swimming in the spa for awhile, they began their walk home.

I didn't see bunny this time, so I was a little disappointed, but, I made sure to leave a special treat in the backyard. When no one was looking, I took a large bite of my wet food and buried it in the backyard. I filled the hole and smoothed it out so Grandpa Bill wouldn't roast at me. He doesn't like it when I dig in his backyard.

I am happy to be back at home and in my favorite chair. Unfortunately, the heat wave is back, so I haven't been able to go to the beach. I think we are going tomorrow for Mom's birthday. I can't wait!

Here are some pictures from my weekend with Boggs. Enjoy!

Heat Wave = Big Roaster

I am so glad the heat wave is over! We had temperatures near 100 at the beach! That is way too hot for this roaster. I was so mad because mom and dad wouldn't take me to the beach. Mom said it was too hot and that my paws would burn on the ground. I was really happy when the temps dropped and we went to top dogs yesterday. While most of my friends were inside their houses, Maggie came out to say "hi" and show me her new toy.

I am excited for this week because Uncle Adam is coming home from North Dakota, so I will get to see him for a few days. He stayed at my house last summer and we had a lot of fun. Plus, he always gives the best scratches! I can't wait to see Boggs and have a sleep over at his house. Maybe bunny will come out again. I have to get plenty of sleep because I always seem to miss my naps these days.

Busy Weekend for the Top Dog

I sure am glad that Sunday is here. My weekends are usually nice and relaxing, but this one was really busy. It all started Friday morning when I woke mom and dad up. To my surprise they got up and put on their top dog suits (clothes they wear to top dog land aka the beach). We piled into the car and started out toward the airport. I thought we were taking the long way, when we started to slow down and stopped at the vet's office! No!!!! Don't get me wrong, they are nice people, but I really thought we were going to the beach. The doctor's office always makes me nervous. I started roasting right away and tried to make a run toward the exit, but dad was holding my leash really tight. After dad weighed me and the lady put us in a room, I got really nervous. I could hear all the other dogs roasting in the rooms and they were not happy to be there either. I was poked, had a blood test, my nails clipped and my bumps examined. I was so mad and couldn't wait to leave. I did meet a little pup named Rocky. He was a 4 month old bulldog. I gave him the low down on the vet and asked mom to please take me outside. Dad finished up with the vet who was roasting about missing a trip to Hawaii. After we left, mom and dad rewarded me with a trip to top dog land. Finally!!!! I was so happy to be down at the beach and away from the vet. Bruce's Beach was closed, but I didn't mind. I practically had the entire strand to myself. Maggie was the only friend I saw. We said "hi" and played our usual game of chase. At night, mom and dad decided to brush my teeth with a real tooth brush. I didn't like it at first, but the toothpaste was poultry flavor, so I gave in.

On Saturday, dad surprised me with a bath. I really don't like taking baths; I prefer to roast. I heard mom tell dad that I smelled like fish, so he washed me in the shower. When I got out, I ran all over the house like a hot roaster. I jumped on every piece of furniture and rubbed my wet dog scent on as many places as I could. I spent the rest of the day sunning in the command post and keeping an eye on the neighborhood.

Today I woke up and was still upset about yesterday's bath and Friday's trip to the vet and tooth brushing. I ran around mom and dad's room and jumped on the bed and told them that we had to go back to top dogs. It worked! They got up and we were off to the beach. There were roasters on every corner - so many smells. I was on my best behavior today and didn't roast at anyone. I know mom was happy about that. I saw Maggie and Lou, but Snow and Star were not home. I haven't seen them in a few weeks.

I'm spending the rest of today curled up in my new favorite chair. I'm exhausted and need to rest up for the week. Here is a picture of me roasting at the vet's office and one of me shaking in the command post after my bath.

Happy Birthday Grandma Betty

Today is Grandma Betty's birthday. She lives in San Francisco with Grandpa Nick. I love going to visit them. Grandma Betty likes to take me to Golden Gate park for walks. I like to chase the squirrels and ducks and have even seen the police horses! I also like to run around the backyard and roast at the neighborhood dogs. I make sure they know that I am the top dog and I'm always in charge. Happy Birthday Grandma Betty. I hope you have a great day!

Spring is here

I am so happy spring is here. I had such a fun Easter weekend. I went to the beach on Saturday and Sunday. The weather was perfect and all of the roasters were out. Unfortunately, my friends were out of town, but I did see some familiar faces like Louie the lab. I have a favorite garden that I love to run through because it has tons of whispies. They feel so good against my coat. The lawn is really soft and I love to dig and spread my scent. Mom and dad always laugh when I "sail" over the whispies when it's time to go. Here are some pictures of me in the whispie garden on Easter.

I also went to Boggs' house on Saturday. I was pretty tired after the beach and didn't get a long nap, but we had a lot of fun. He has a wild bunny that lives in the bushes and I finally got to see it. Bunny was sitting on the front lawn and I could see him from Boggs' command post and through the backyard gate. I roasted at mom the entire time we were there because I wanted to go out and see bunny. She let me out, but only after making sure bunny was not in the backyard. I still found bunny's rabbit hole and all of his hiding spots. I told Boggs to keep an eye on bunny until the next time I visit.

I hope all of my friends had a nice Easter weekend.

What a fun week!

I have had such a fun week with Boggs. He leaves tomorrow morning, so today is our last full day to play and roast in the command post. We went on several walks this week and Boggs even saw his first tortoise! I haven't gone to the beach since Monday, so I am looking forward to getting back to my normal routine. I've also missed out on most of my naps, so I plan on catching up on those this week.

There has been a lot of activity in the neighborhood today. There is a bike race, so Boggs and I have been barking at the cyclists as they ride by. The race has been going on since early this morning. I'm getting tired, so I hope it ends soon. Mom also baked scones this afternoon. They smelled so good! Boggs barked at her the entire time. I tried telling him that she was not going to give us any, but he wouldn't listen. Dad is at work now. We're all going to go out when he gets home. I can't wait!

Double Trouble

The last 3 days have been very chaotic. Boggs and I are running this house and we are exhausted. We roasted for 8 hours on Monday and hardly left mom alone. I know she must be tired. Boggs was a little uneasy the first night, but he is settling in pretty good. We missed our naps the first few days, so maybe we'll get one in today.
We have been waking up really early and Boggs likes to bark at mom to get her out of bed.
A strange man came to the house this morning. We had to bark at him from the command post. Dad leered us into the back yard with treats. He wasn't here long, so I think we scared him off. We must have done a good job because we got GBs when we came back inside. Boggs has enjoyed sitting in all of my special spots around the house, so I took the liberty of claiming a new spot. I now prefer a chair that was always "off limits" before. When mom was chasing Boggs around, I snuck up there and put on my cutest "look at me" face so she wouldn't get mad. It worked! Now, I have a nice cozy blanket on it. I can even see out the command post and enjoy a great view of the street.

Here are some pictures from this week. The first one is of Boggs and I begging mom for some treats. The second one is us roasting in the command post. And, the last one is of me getting cozy in my new favorite chair.

Busy day for a busy dog

After the entire weekend went by without a trip to the beach, I could not wait another day. I woke my parents up when the sun came up and said "let's go"! After mom strapped on my vest, we were out the door. There were a lot of dogs out on the strand this morning. My friend, Maggie was enjoying her morning nap as we walked by. She greeted me with a friendly bark. I was on a mission to "keep the crew moving", so I didn't stop for a long visit. We passed Derby and her mom and a few other regulars. Snow wasn't home, but Star was. Star is one of my favorite friends on the strand. She has a nanny and a housekeeper who keep a close eye on her. They always keep her inside the house, so it's a real treat when she comes out to say "hi". She seems lonely and I don't think she goes on walks very often. Dad did his special whistle to call her outside. I can't believe he has trained her to respond to our call! Sometimes she tries to jump the wall to join us. She always looks sad when we leave, but she knows we always come back.

I am getting ready to take my early afternoon nap. My other friend, Boggs is coming over this afternoon. His parents are going out of town and he will be staying with me for an entire week. My first house guest! I will have to get used to sharing my mom and all of my favorite spots in the house, but that's ok. I know we're going to wear mom out pretty good. I better rest up now. He has a lot of energy!

Here is a picture of Star at her house. Enjoy!

Morning at the beach

I spent the morning on the strand in Manhattan Beach. It's my favorite place to go on a walk. There was a lot of activity today. I saw a lot of other dogs who were out on walks. Some "roasted" at me. Lots of barking and lunging. I was on my best behavior and managed to stay out of trouble. I get really anxious when other dogs get in my personal space. I like to protect my family and prefer that other dogs keep their distance. If I want to sniff them, I prefer to approach. I went to my friend Snow's house to say "hi". She was up on her balcony getting some sun and checking out the view. I feel bad for Snow because her mom always keeps her inside. She never gets to come down and play. I know she wants to come down and tussle. My dad has a secret whistle that he makes when we walk by her house. She always runs out on her balcony when we are waiting for her. Here is a picture of Snow out on her balcony. She's very pretty.

A quiet day so far

I have been enjoying a nice and relaxing day today. Not a lot going on in the neighborhood. I spotted a strange man walking across the street this morning. I call him "doot trail" because he is always pushing multiple shopping carts and taking things from my neighbor's driveways. I don't like him. He stopped in front of my neighbor's house and began pulling all the leaves off the trees! I started barking so he would stop. He left, but I know he will be back later. The gardener is scheduled for this afternoon, so I am resting up. I always get a good workout when he comes. Sometimes he brings a friend and I have to work twice as hard. The mail just arrived, so I have to go bark at our mail lady.....
